I would ease back into you
Reopen the door
To the corridors of your mind
The footing unsure and slick...
I would emerge from the shadows
Of the hidden chamber that is mine
Where you have been silent too long.
I would stretch my limbs, free again,
Open eyes wide to see
All about me the same
Yet different visions.
New energy, wisdom, thoughts --
Would I remember it all?
As real as the You I have is,
Would this You still fit the shape?
Time passes and each atom is reborn
We can never walk the same path twice
We must make new trails,
Find the joy and glory each day.
Do I want it all to be as before?
Familiar quirks, electric highs...
Or will a newness please me more?
And will the current bear me out
Beyond the point of no return
Or this time can I swim strong,
Frolicking in the clear sweet bay?
